Gloop

Today we made Gloop. We mixed cornflour and water together.
We wanted to know if it was a solid or a liquid.

We found out it could be a solid and a liquid and we also found it can turn back into a powder.

It was really messy and lots of fun as we used our hands and explored the gloop.

Our Visit to Hutt Library

On Wednesday we visited the Hutt Library.  We went on the bus with Mrs Manabe's class. 

We first met Jill and Jacky the librarians who talked to us about the library.  We learned it is called the War Memorial Library and we also talked about how the library was the same and different to out school library. 

We had a scavenger hunt around the library and collected pictures of characters and letters. 

 Jacky and Jill read us some stories as well.

 We walked downstairs to see the ANZAC paintings that show sacrifice and hope which our ancestors fought for.  We  also had a story about the war called ANZAC Ted.

Before coming back to school we had morning tea and a little play in the park.

Our Science Experiments

Our Butterfly Hatches

On Thursday afternoon we noticed the chrysalis had split open and the butterfly was coming out.  Its wings were all crumpled. It pumped its wings. On Friday morning before school the butterfly was ready to fly outside. We took it outside and it flew over the school and away!

The School Picnic

On Wednesday the whole school  went on a picnic to Harcourt Park. We were very excited as some of us hadn't been on a bus trip before. We sat on the bus with our Room 9 buddies.  We had a super time. We played on the playground, went on the flying fox, played frisbee, cricket, soccer, rugby, sack racing and Tug - of - war!  We were very tired when we got back to school. It was a wonderful school picnic!

Painting

We first drew pictures of ourselves with black crayon and then we painted them.  We tried very hard and are very proud of our efforts.  Our pictures are now hanging up in the classroom  for everyone to view.

Our Last Cricket Session

Our last cricket session with Matt. We  learned new skills and had lots of fun. Thank you Matt.

Maths Games

We are learning to recognise dice patterns and we play maths games to practise our skills.
